| The Rail Workers Hazardous Materials Training Program will conduct the following Hazardous Materials Transportation/Chemical Emergency Response Training. Please circulate this announcement to all members/rail employees in your local and/or work location(s).

The training, addresses OSHA and DOT required procedures and different levels of response and worker protection in a hazardous materials emergency or release, weapons of mass destruction awareness, the incident command system, as well as components required to complete OSHA 10-Hour Outreach certification. The training includes advanced classroom instruction, small group activities, intensive hands-on drills and a simulated hazmat response in full safety gear.
The Rail Workers Hazardous Materials Training Program provides this training using federal grant funding from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). This funding provides transportation, lodging, and meals for training participants. In addition, participants who are unable to secure regular pay through their employer are eligible for a stipend.
Full time union officers or members being paid to attend by their respective organizations are not eligible for the stipend.
Local Participants: Mileage reimbursement and meal allowance @ $45.00/day.
Traveling Participants: Air travel, lodging and meal allowance.
