Its that time of year again...the APWU Summer Picnic

      The APWU will host its Annual Summer Picnic on Saturday, 7/27 & Sunday, 7/28, at Cedar Point.  Tickets are $30 for the adults and $24 for juniors.  Meal tickets will be $14 for adults and $7.50 for juniors.  Rooms are available at Econolodge...see details and rates on attached flyer.

The Tulsa City Council will be considering over the next couple of days a plan to effectively give the voters of the City of Tulsa a chance to decide if a portion of the Tulsa County sales tax should be dedicated to hiring more police officers.  The plan would increase the number of police officers by seventy over the next few years.

We want to assure you the only change that is happening on July 1st if the house bill passes, is to move the Child Care Division (CCD) to the Oregon Department of Education in to the new Early Learning Division. On June 6, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the fiscal year 2014 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spending bill that provides $38.9 billion in discretionary funding for DHS.  This is a decrease of $617.6 million below the FY 2013 enacted level and a decrease of $34.9 million below the President’s request.

Retired EPPD Detective Passes Away

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association sadly announces the passing of retired Detective Daniel Beltran #364.  Det. (Ret.) Beltran passed away on Friday afternoon, June 14, 2013, just ten days shy of his 61st birthday.  He worked with the El Paso Police Department from February 1973 until his retirement at the end of December in 1998.
